New: FSCE 11+ Learning Series Launch

Why knowing where to begin is so hard

Preparing for the 11+ can feel like a mountain. There are English skills, Maths topics, vocabulary, test technique, and plenty of advice online that pulls in different directions. Tutoring helps, but it’s a significant spend, and it still helps to know what your child is covering and why.

The most common starting point is a practice paper. But a paper only shows you what your child can already do. If a topic hasn’t been properly learnt, the paper just shows the gap, and a run of low scores can dent confidence before you’ve even begun.

Learn first, then test

That’s why we built the Learning Series. The idea is simple: know it first, then test it.

Your child works through the key topics one at a time, learning the method and practising it. Then they move on to practice test papers to build speed, work under time constraints and perfect their exam technique. They arrive at the papers knowing what to expect, and that calm confidence matters on the day.

What’s in the Learning Series

  • 39 Learning Units: 16 English and 23 Maths

  • 884 pages of clear teaching and practice

  • English: grammar and punctuation, comprehension, literary techniques, creative writing, poetry, vocabulary, spelling and much more

  • Maths: fractions, decimals, percentages, ratio, algebra, angles, written methods and much more

  • A Start Here guide with a suggested weekly plan, so you always know what comes next

  • Print-ready PDFs in one download

What’s inside every unit

Every unit follows the same clear pattern:

  1. Clear explanations of the key facts, written for children and for the grown-up helping them

  2. Worked examples showing every step

  3. Hints and tips on the mistakes the 11+ tends to catch children out on

  4. Practice pages that build from the basics to exam-style questions

  5. A challenge page to stretch confident learners

  6. Full answer keys with working, so you can check quickly and explain clearly

Made for learning at home

You don’t need to be a teacher. Read the explanation together, let your child try the practice on their own, then mark together and use the hints and tips to go over any mistakes. Little and often works best: 15 to 20 minutes, a few times a week, is plenty.

One unit a week, alternating English and Maths, takes you through all 39 in a school year. Have more time? Do one of each each week, and you’ll finish in around five months. Closer to the test, go back over the topics that were hardest.

Because everything prints, each unit becomes reference and revision material you can return to later.

Already have a tutor?

The series works alongside tutoring too. Use it to get ahead on topics before a lesson, reinforce what’s been taught, and give your child extra step-by-step practice between sessions.

Then put it to the test

When your child is ready, our practice papers are the next step: Maths test papers (150 questions, multiple choice and written answers), a Comprehension bundle of 6 full papers (90 questions), plus Missing Letters and Synonyms and Antonyms papers for extra vocabulary practice. [links]
